about
Mackenzie is a self-taught photographer.
In July of 2019, shortly before the start of her senior year of high school, she photographed a local musical theatre production. A month later, she captured her first wedding. The month after that, she accepted her first paid gig and began taking on clients. She started social media, graphic design, and video work in 2021.
She first picked up a camera (her grandmother's) when she was 9 years old. The main subjects would be her grandparents, their cats, the nature around their house, and the local county and state parks her and her grandma would visit together.
Her project, "Music Model" has been ongoing since 2022. It started with edited self portraits taken in her living room, putting her own spin on Olivia Rodrigo's "Sour" album cover. She then went on to photograph herself to Mac Miller's "Come Back to Earth," and Lady Gaga's "Joanne," and she knew she didn't want to stop. She then opened the project up to strangers and friends, going on to shoot concepts to Queen & David Bowie's "Under Pressure," Tate McRae's "Greedy," Derek & The Dominos' "Layla," and more. A creative block forced her to take a break for almost 2 years from September 2024 to May 2026 with the returning addition to the project being Paramore's "Brick by Boring Brick." She cannot wait to see where the project goes and hopes she gets to work with more and more artists to their own music.
Her work has been published in Entrepreneur Magazine and Danville Area Visitors Bureau Visitor's Guide
